About Palace of Wheel

The “Palace of Wheel”, as its name suggests was taken away from the royal back-ground of Rajputana land and first came into existence in 1982. The passenger coaches were personally used by the highly famed rulers of the Viceroy of British India, the Nizam of Hyderabad, major states of Rajputana, Gujarat. The traditional and rich interiors of these coaches persuaded the Indian Railways to restrict this service in normal passenger trains after independence.

In 1990 the new Palace on Wheels with an air condition was launched and was equipped with 13 Saloons, 4 Service Cars, one Bar cum Lounge, and 2 Restaurant cum Kitchen car. Many more amenities had been added to the train further and very soon a new broad gauge Palace-on- Wheels hit the market in 1995. It has 14 saloons which are inter-connected with each other. The interior of the train shows the aesthetics and beauty of the royal states. Bar & dining cars, a library, doctor on call, a barber shop and a well equipped lounge are a part of the services you obtain in this train.

The Palace on Wheels Train Tour will take you to the unforgettable journey of the imperial land of Rajasthan by visiting magnificent and marvelous forts of Rajasthan, fauna of Bharatpur as well as One and only The Taj Mahal.
